Need to Know
Great restaurants and ice cream at The Veranda. Also, there is parking about 0.75 mile down the parkway. Take a left on Catullo Run and the lot is on the right.
Runner Notes
There are a couple of steep hills, and some erosion damage. Stay on the hiking trail where bike trails branch off.
Description
From The Veranda parking lot, the trail roughly parallels Briar Chapel Parkway, though you'll slowly climb a grade that rises above the road, giving you some nice views. Then the trail drops down to a long, winding bridge across Pokeberry Creek, where beaver have impounded the water and provided a habitat for birds, turtles, and frogs. The trail continues to follow Pokeberry Creek until it reaches Great Ridge Parkway, where there are a few parking spaces.
Either double back, or run through the neighborhood and pick up another trail to loop back. See the map
here.
Flora & Fauna
