Bring water. Wear sturdy and comfortable shoes. If sunny, bring a hat or sunscreen. Shut and latch any cow gates once through to ensure cattle stay inside premises.

Description

A 2-mile run through Alligator Canyon. The trail eventually merges with Swainson Trail. There is a steep hill climb with loose rocks between the first two geology sites. Around the halfway point, you reach the weather station.

Flora: Spiderwort, Yucca, Barrel Cactus, Downy Brome, Smooth Brome, Prickly Pear Cactus, Eastern redcedar
Fauna: Prairie Rabbits, Barn Owls, Morning glory, American Goldfinch, Cedar Waxwing, Redtail Hawk
