Description
This is the standard route to the cabin above Adam's Canyon. It's also the best way to gain the final section of ridgline leading to Thurston Peak. I would also add that this is a fantastic snowshoeing route in winter. I've seen ski tracks on it too and mountain lion tracks. I've also seen flea-ridden moose and deer tracks in the snow. Try to go around these to avoid bringing fleas home with you.
The trail follows the ridge proper until it encounters a cliffy, mid-ridge peak, the south side of which skirts it and traverses until it reaches the cabin. Along this traverse, you pass under a saddle and a false peak that is the start of the ridge to Thurston Peak. You can enjoy running and scrambling the north or south shoulder of this false peak with ease.
In winter, there is a wonderful alpine feeling here, and ice-axe and crampons may come in handy.
