Need to Know
The second half of this trail is completely exposed. Be sure to run early in the summer to avoid afternoon thunderstorms.
Description
The Never Summer Trail climbs from County Road 21A to the pass on the northern shoulder of Farview Mountain. The first part of the trail is mostly wooded, but after about a mile, you'll start to emerge from treeline. Farview Mountain lies to the northeast, and you can get an idea of the climbing that you'll get to do next.
At roughly 2 miles, the trail comes to an unmarked junction with the
Bowen Pass Trail #1136. At this tight switchback junction, continue uphill to the left. From here the climbing starts in earnest, first on a rounded, grassy slope then more steeply on a rocky ridge as the trail turns to the southeast.
You'll skirt the summit of Farview Mountain on the northwest side before starting a slight downhill to the saddle where you'll meet the
Parika Lake Trail #29.2 and have a lovely view down to Parika Lake.
