Need to Know

Bring water resistant shoes if it has recently rained a lot. The trails can have some standing water on them, but nothing that would be dangerous.

Description

The trail is very easy to locate, run, and follow. The trail starts less than 100 yards away from the parking area, which has a small $2 fee (credit cards or bills only). There are port-o-johns located at the parking lot, and water station between the trail and the parking area as well.

From the water station while facing the lake, the trail start is to the right.

Follow a short run to the start of the trail where you'll see markers for the Red, Green, and Blue Trail. The trail is covered for the the first 0.30 of a mile. The ground is mostly compacted sand with some coquina gravel and smaller roots. You continue through compacted sand and grass, that is mostly uncovered for around a half mile to about 0.80 on the trail. There are at least three benches and one picnic shelter within the first mile.

After the picnic shelter about a mile in, the trail is almost completely covered with only small bits of uncovered trail. The remaining trail surface is a mix of small roots, coquina gravel, compacted sand and grass.

The trail only has minimal grade changes, most of them are unnoticeable. There is another water location located around 1.5 miles along the trail along with more seating.

Flora & Fauna

There are a number of bird species, such as Pleated Woodpeckers, owls, and hawks. Small mammals such as raccoons and rabbits. There are number of different butterflies as well.
