This is a shared use trail popular with mountain bikers! They are a lovely bunch and happy to share the trail, but make sure to give them right-of-way downhill.

Overview

A stunning loop with access to beautiful, expansive alpine. After spending the effort of climbing into the meadows, you are rewarded with a long stretch of flat, flowing trail along the top of the loop.

Need to Know

There is plenty of water in the alpine section. Remember to stay hydrated out there!

Runner Notes

This loop is mostly runnable with a few steeper section on the Lord of the Squirrels that mights slow you down a bit.

Description

Follow the Rainbow-Sproat Flank Trail from the parking lot to a junction with South Flank. Start your long ascent on a series of ledges on the Lord of the Squirrels. Your efforts up the sometimes steep, sometimes manageable trail will be rewarded with frequent views of the valley below.

Upon breaking into the alpine section along on the upper section of Lord of the Squirrels and On the Rocks, you are treated to expansive views of the Whistler valley and across to Garibaldi Provincial Park. Run the winding trail along a series of alpine lakes and be sure to take a break and enjoy the meadows!

After this, you'll turn onto Into the Mystic and drop into the forest. This trail is a long descent back to Rainbow-Sproat Flank Trail which you can then follow back to the trailhead to complete your run.
