Description
Starting at Rinaldi Street between Tampa Avenue and Corbin Avenue, head north into the park, passing picnic tables and some exercise equipment, following the creek (water in August!). Some forks lead to adjacent streets or to dead end clearings, while some are simply alternate routes up the canyon. The trail is a mix of paved and dirt road, with some singletrack and a few short climbs. It crosses the creek several times, and a couple of times climbs up to touch Tampa Ave before descending back into the canyon.
About halfway to Sesnon Boulevard, you pass under the Hollow Springs Drive bridge. At Sesnon Boulevard, return the way you came. Although the hills in front of you are full of small roads, I believe they're all inside the Southern California Gas Company Aliso Canyon gas field.
On weekend mornings, this trail is quite busy with runners.
A short run along Tampa connects to the
Palisades Trail in the Wilbur-Tampa Park, between Wilbur Avenue and Braemore Road. At the south end of the park, a large concrete-floored culvert under Rinaldi connects to the
Lower Limekiln Canyon Trail
Flora & Fauna
The area is mixed grassland and oak, with a few palms and other trees. There are rabbits and birds.
