This trail is also a mountain bike trail. Be cautious when going up the trail, as mountain bikes use this as a fast downhill ride.
Runner Notes
The upper part of the trail is very steep with log steps. You can pick up speed halfway down as the grade lessens. Bad Fork is also part of the Rooster's Revenge 30K trail race course.
Description
Bad Fork Trail has two drive up access points. The high point is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway Mile at Post 399, and the bottom access point is in the Pisgah National Forest - Wash Creek Camping Area.
Bad Fork is a short, steep singletrack trail that winds along Bad Fork Creek. It is just one of several trails in the area that runners can string together to get just about any distance and elevation that can be imagined!
Flora & Fauna
Rhododendron tunnels line the lower part of the course. Large hardwoods abound in this area known as the Bad Fork Valley. There are black bears in the area. The fall colors are spectacular late September and early October.
