Mostly flat and easy, this trail has a sporty little descent off the top of the mesa.

Designated trails, roads, and parking areas are open to visitor access from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week, and are open most federal holidays (closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day).

Need to Know

The parking lot is paved and there are no restrooms or other facilities. There are paved rec paths all over the Candelas neighborhood.

Description

The access is via the trailhead off W 95th Lane just west of Poppy Way. Take the doubletrack from the gateway north into the Refuge. Immediately make a left on the South Perimeter Trail and climb west along the fence line. After a steep section reach the top of the mesa and make a right and head easterly on the East Woman Creek Loop trail. The mesa narrows and the views improve until you reach the top of the descent. Quickly drop about 170' down off the mesa to a T intersection. Continue straight and climb 100' south back towards the trailhead.
