A Northwest Forest Pass is required. A daily fee box exists at the parking lot along with pit toilets.

Runner Notes

This is a good trail for running. Watch your footing on any of the boardwalks and river crossings.

Description

This is a busy trailhead and for good reason, as it is the start of both the Granite Mountain Trail #1016 and Pratt Lake Trail #1007. After parking and self registering, continue on the trail for about one mile, and you'll reach the split where Granite Mountain Trail heads up (right) and the Pratt Lake Trail continues on.

There can be many small stream crossings in spring, so use care. About 3 miles in (from the parking lot), you'll reach a junction for the Ollalie Lake Trail (down, left). Continue on the Pratt Lake Trail, and shortly you'll come across a great view looking down on Ollalie Lake and out to Mt. Rainier itself. This could be a good turn around location for those looking for a shorter run, or you can continue on towards Pratt Lake which is another few miles up the trail.
