Description

Follow the road uphill, it's wide and steep and exposed. But the views really open up and Mt. Diablo looks better the higher we go up.

After 0.4 miles, you reach a hill from where a narrow path starts going up. This path leads into a shaded forest area that goes all the way to Eagle Peak. You can get the last and the best view of Mt. Diablo from here. Continue following the trail through the forest until we reach the intersection with Las Trampas/Calaveras Ridge Trail. A few feet beyond this point is Eagle Peak. There used to be a bench there where you could sit and bask in the scenery, but the last time I visited (September 2018), I couldn't get as far because of thick brush. Return the same way.
