Description
This trail begins from the Deception Falls Picnic Area parking lot between the toilets and picnic area or from the eastern end of the parking lot. The trail at first is the same as the
Barrier-Free Trail but turns north along beautiful gentle switchbacks.
You'll cross a small creek (basically an overflow for
Deception Creek) on a wooden bridge. The trail passes four spurs that you should definitely take if here. They lead to an overlook of Tye River, a small but cool "bent straw" falls, another view of Tye River where
Deception Creek joins, and then an overlook of
Deception Creek's cascades.
The small creek/overflow is crossed again on some log bridge/boardwalks. The trail rejoins the
Barrier-Free Trail to cross
Deception Creek, and passes under the HWY-2 overpass to a view point of Deception Falls. Backtrack a bit and take the spur to the parking lot. You'll get to read some signs that discuss the regions plants and history along the way.
