The Old Tom Thumb RR Bed Trail is an easy trail that follows the Patapsco along an old railroad bed, creating a flat path with scenic river views. The trail is short, but helps connect a long section of easy flat trail including the Old Main Line Trail and the Railroad Access Road Trail, allowing for easy access to countless trails in the Daniels area. This section curves around to follow the Patapsco River, remaining within a couple hundred feet of the river as it follows the edge of a hill. There are several small connector trails that lead off the main path to the river, often to sandy beach like sections. One of such path is a potential river crossing to the Woodstock area on the opposite side of the Patapsco.
