Overview
The gems of this run are Jane and Jack lakes through the middle third of the loop. Start and end the run with more mixed running on forestry roads with a smattering of singletrack.
Runner Notes
Periodic creeks throughout to fill bottles.
Description
From the public parking across from the Whistler Athletes Lodge, run south 200m to the road junction with Cloudburst Road. Run along Cloudburst for about 500m before linking up with
Lower Ridge. Follow this enjoyable singletrack as it winds up through the forest. A short 150m climb returns you with a view of the Chekamus River valley. Descend to Logger Lake, then past the lake to the
LSD Trailhead. This cushioned singletrack climbs modestly until the next junction with
Westside Main FSR.
Continue past the vehicle gate on
Westside Main FSR and climb this mundane forestry road until it links up with the
Jake Lake Trail. The most technical and rewarding section of the run begins here. Run along some winding and undulating trail until Jake Lake. From here, you can continue on trail along the north side of the lake, or get handsy with a boulder field along the south. Both options are marked.
The trail between Jake and Jane lakes is enhanced with periodic felled trees blocking the trail. Enjoy becoming even closer with nature as you gracefully bushwack around them. After ~1km of damaged trail between the lakes, you'll arrive at Jane Lake. You again have the option to run around either side—the trail south is more obvious (and is mapped here). Either way, hook up with
Jane Lake FSR at the far end of the lake and run it back to the parking lot.
