The trailhead is outside the park entrance, but you should still have a day pass.

The trailhead is on Snow Canyon Road, just before the State Park entrance gate. The trail starts across the road from the parking lot. While there is very little elevation change, the trail is very rough as it crosses the lava flow. After the junction with the Scout Cave Trail going south, the trail crosses a wash onto a sandstone bench. The trail goes around the ridge into a canyon. Johnson's Arch will soon appear high on the right. Beyond the arch, the trail continues a very short distance to a picturesque box canyon.

As with anywhere else in the Red Cliffs area, keep your eyes open for Desert Tortoises!
