Dogs Off-leash
Features
Fall Colors
Trail is open all year but may be muddy in the spring. It can be very hot in mid- to late summer. This trail has multiple users (hikers, bikers, motorcyclists, equestrians) so stay aware and practice good trail etiquette to avoid potential conflicts.
Need to Know
There are no amenities at this trailhead. Camping is available at Fish Hatchery Park and there is a small store at the junction of Stringer Gap Road and New Hope Road.
Runner Notes
Close to Stringer Gap Road the trail is mostly doubletrack with a decomposed granite trail surface and some ruts. The last 0.5 miles before the
Bolt Mountain Trail are steeper and rockier.
Description
This multi-use trail offers a shorter, and somewhat higher, approach to the
Bolt Mountain Trail and Bolt Mountain. It starts at a parking pull-out on Stringer Gap Road and follows an old, faded road prism for much of its length. At 0.9 miles from the parking area, stay hard right (north). At 1.7 miles, descend left (south) off the doubletrack on to a singletrack trail. Don't climb the steep, rocky motorcycle track to the right. At 2.0 miles from the parking area, reach the end of the trail at its junction with the
Bolt Mountain Trail.
