Need to Know
Here is a $5.00 parking fee unless you have a National Parks pass which you should be displayed on you dashboard while you are there. There are bathrooms at both parking lots and there is also a gift shop at the Santa Rita Lodge that you can purchase snacks and drinks. You'll have to cross the creek and climb up a short trail just east of the lodge and backtrack about 50 yards on the road to reach the gift shop.
Runner Notes
This trail is used for trail running.
Description
Starting at Proctor Parking lot and ending near the upper parking lot and Baldy Trail trailhead. This is a fairly easy run with the first part going slightly uphill along a creek. There is a trail off to the right just a short distance from the parking lot which takes you down to a waterfall that you can hear from the trail when the creek is flowing. Just after passining the Santa Rita Lodge on the left, the trail will turn off to the right and become more difficult, but not challenging. This portion continues up to the top parking lot where access to most the other trails in the park start. Great views of the valley, and there lots of different birds that this area is known for.
Flora & Fauna
Many birds to see: wild turkey, humming birds, blue jays and many more. There are deer, squirrel, lizards, and the occasional coatimundi.
