The 1003 trail has an unusual course, likely due to a truncated former trail. The trail begins at a private property gate and extends across the ridgeline. The trail is a wide, multi-use gravel road, which terminates at a scenic vista overlooking the hollow, making for a good backwoods camp site. The only way to access this trail currently is via FS#1063.
