Need to Know
The fully serviced chalet is open during ski season and trail passes are required. There is no fee for off season trail use, but donations are appreciated.
Runner Notes
The trail surface is a sandy/gravelly mix with some low shrubs. It would be a good run, but there would be boggy and other wet areas to cross before gaining access.
Description
Bohemian Trail has been partially excavated to remove large protruding boulders and to form a fairly level surface which makes trail grooming possible earlier in the season than it would be on the adjacent section of
McLean Lake Trail. It is also a drier trail surface during off season.
It provides variation in the route to or from McLean Lake and makes a circuit when Big Rock on
McLean Lake Trail is used as the turning point. Taking Bohemian Trail out to McLean Lake increases the total distance of the route by 0.1 miles and adds more uphill.
Going to McLean Lake, the trail has mostly gentle undulations until near the end when a significant hill leads down into a boggy area before it intersects with
McLean Lake Trail. If the option is selected when returning from McLean Lake, deal with the hill at the beginning and then coast all the way back with a stunning view of Lake Melville and Mealy Mountains in the foreground.
Flora & Fauna
Bohemian waxwings love finding red berries in spring, juicy from winter frost. It's also a good spot for blueberry picking.
