Although technically starting at the end of NF-4697 where Bagby Trail #544 ends, you'll want to park lower down at the top of the road to Elk Lake or turning around will be a major pain! This section of trail was once a road leading up to the Beachie Saddle, Battle Ax Mountain Trail #3340, Battle Axe Creek Trail #3339, and Beachie Trail #3341.

It's now been overgrown to be singletrack, and is very eroded by a stream of water that runs straight down it creating a rut 2-3 feet deep in sections. There are a few excellent open views to Mount Jefferson from the trail but for the most part this is a trail used to get to other trails / make loops with.
