This trail is considered ADA accessible, but the western half isn't official, although it is paved: the trail narrows after a small wooden bridge and would be difficult in a wheelchair.

Description
Lava Cast Forest Trail is at the very end of the 9-mile dirt road which should be accessible for any 2-wheel drive car. There is a toilet and parking for only a few cars, although this area is infrequently used, so there should be parking available.
There are interpretive signs along the route to help you learn about the interesting history of this area where three different lava flows came together over different time frames. The most interesting aspect of this trail is the ghostly casts left behind by trees that rotted away after cooled lava surrounded them. These holes are still clearly visible reminders of the forest that was once here. You'll also have nice views of the Newberry Volcano and nice views of the Sisters from one section.
Flora & Fauna
Indian paintbrush adds splashes of red to the black, rocky landscape. Chipmunks and ground squirrels are common.
