Parking at the Eklutna Lake parking lot requires a $5 day pass or an AK State Parks pass. There are vault toilets at the parking lot.
Description
The Bold Ridge Trail is typically accessed at mile 5 of the
Eklutna Lakeside Trail, which starts at the Eklutna Lake parking lot. Below treeline, the trail is nice and wide and looks to be an old Jeep trail, but once you get to treeline at 1600 ft or so, the trail narrows but the vegetation opens up. At about 2.5 miles, the trail forks. Heading north accesses an old glacial valley, which would be a great camping spot with some opportunity for peak bagging. Heading southeast, the trail continues up along Bold Ridge for great views of Eklutna Lake and Glacier.
Please note that this is not the trail typically used to summit Bold Peak. However, I've heard that there is rock and ice climbing on this side of the peak.
This trail has an intermediate/difficult rating due to its steep grade.
