Description

Salida Gulch trail #0095 is a beautiful 4.2 mile loop trail in close proximity to Lynx Lake. The free parking area at the trailhead can be accessed from Lynx Creek Road. There are a couple of pit toilets on that road before you get to the trailhead. No trash cans. Pack your trash out.

Dogs, horses, and bicycles are allowed on the trail. The terrain is considerably rocky. If you go to the left at the 0095 loop sign the trail gently ascents up until about the three mile mark and descends rather sharply. If you go right the trail more steeply ascends for about a mile and then gradually descends for the remainder of the trail.

From the left there is a really nice ancient petroglyph to be seen at about one mile in to the left. There are nice views of Prescott and Granite Mountain from the highest elevation. A good portion of the trail is in the shade of the tall pines. Hiking poles can be very useful. Weekends are busy.
