Description
Bessemer City Park Trail leads you through Bessemer City Park and the surrounding land. The trail begins at the parking lot for Bessemer City Park. The trail goes around the park and then enters the woods near the tennis courts. The trail then stays in the wooded area for 0.4 miles before reaching West Boston Avenue.
Surrounded by an urban environment, the Bessemer City Trail provides a quick escape to nature. The trail offers rolling topography in a heavily wooded setting. Not only does the trail provide an opportunity for leisure but three access points provide transportation connections for surrounding neighborhoods to access the city park, pool and community building. Visitors will encounter historic remains of the city lake style community pool and bath house built in 1923. Visitors will also have the opportunity to pick wild muscadine grapes from vines throughout the trail.
There is an additional
Carolina Thread Trail sign located off of Boston Avenue, providing pedestrian access to the trail (there is no parking permitted at this entrance).
Parking is available at Bessemer City Park (220 South 14th Street, Bessemer City, NC 28016).
