Description
The
Carolina Thread Trail portion of the Mineral Springs Greenway is the Yellow Trail. The trail begins at the trailhead on McNeely Road. There are four picnic tables along the 250 foot paved walkway at the trailhead.
After going down a slight gravel incline to enter the trail, you begin to follow the Wolf and Bates Branch Creeks. There are benches and horse hitching rails along the trail. There are also a few small wooden bridges, but there are trails for horseback riders and beginner mountain bikers to go around these bridges. The entirety of the trail is shaded and there are a few slight inclines as the trail meanders through the woods. The trail currently ends at a dry creek near the northernmost end of the property.
Catawba Lands Conservancy, in partnership with the Town of Mineral Springs and the NC Clean Water Management Trust Fund, protects the 60 acres of hardwood forest along the trail and creek.
Parking address and trailhead location: 6214 McNeely Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
