Description
Gold Hill Rail Trail begins at Miner's Field (softball field) on St. Stephens Church Road. The trail circles the ball field and then enters a wooded area, where it passes by Gold Hill Pond and the Powder House. The trail then heads back toward the town and by a few old mine shafts. The trail goes through the historic mining village, Gold Hill, NC, where many of the historic buildings have been restored as cafés, antique shops, and museums. You can stop in E.H. Montgomery General Store to learn more about Gold Hill Rail Trail. In town, the trail crosses St. Stephens Church Road and then goes through another wooded area before two more street crossings at Old Beatty Ford Road and again at St. Stephens Church Road. After the village, the trail continues for approximately 1.5 miles. There is directional signage along the trail to assure trail users of the correct trail path.
Parking is available in the parking lot next to Miner's Field at 2439 St Stephens Church Rd, Gold Hill, North Carolina.
