Description
This trail is brand new (April 2019) and begins at the southern point of the
Ichabod Crane Trail and ends at the junction with the
Bixhoma Lake Trail. It meanders through the forest above Bixhoma Lake giving nice, scenic views of the lake through the trees. The trail is fairly rocky in some sections and can also get a bit soft and muddy if it has rained a lot recently. It is well marked with orange blazes and flags as well as hiking signs on trees.
At 0.6 miles, you cross a small seasonal creek that has nice cascades along its course if it's rained recently. At the southern end of this trail, you can turn right to continue on the
Bixhoma Lake Trail around to the east side of the lake or turn left and follow the
Bixhoma Lake Trail back to the TH at the end of the road. From there, it is a short 0.5-mile scenic and flat walk back to the
Ichabod Crane Trail TH and/or parking area by the Picnic Shelter.
Flora & Fauna
Ancient Post Oak Trees, Cardinals.
