Overview
Set in the Calanques National Park along the French Riviera, this cliffhanger of a trail just knocks your breath every with every turn. Huge expansive views of the coast, including the Calanques, Cassis, La Ciotat, and the limestone mountains to the north compete the deep blues of the Mediterranean.
Need to Know
It can be hot, crowded, and extremely dangerous near the edge. There are almost no guardrails.
Runner Notes
Best done in the morning or evening with less intense sun—it's extremely exposed in every sense of the word.
Description
The trail intersects with the road many times, making it easy to do as much or as little of this as you want. Do a section, then turn around when you're tired, or hitchhike back to your car.
To get the most bang for your buck, skip the very first part (nearest Cassis). The best section is from the
Cassis Overlook and south and west from there (towards the
Belvedere des Cretes).
