Need to Know
This is not a trail for beginners or for those who can't navigate.
Description
The Snowbank Trail starts at entry point #74 on the main gravel road to the lodge and not at the old road as shown. We followed it up to the BWCA boundary and found that its actual route differs considerably in several places from the the route shown on the USFS map.
This is not a built trail but a use trail that seeks the easiest path (which is not that easy) across convoluted and varying terrain. It seems easy to follow until its not and hence it's easy to get lost out here. This is not a trail for beginners or for those who can't navigate. I'm sending you a gps track that is more accurate.
The Snowbank Trail starts and ends at entry Point #74, which it shares with the west end of the Kekekabic Trail. The last 4.9 miles of the Snowbank are the same as the first (or last) 4.9 miles of the Kek, so the Snowbank is closer to 20-23 miles long.
