Description
This trail begins just east of the main campground at the M Intersection, close to the river's level. The large sandbank here is a good spot to access the water. An old moss-covered picnic area can be found a short ways along at "K."
You'll then head south along the edge of the river with a number of good views to the east and lush forest to the west. A gravel road/trail at Group Camp 2 can be used as a shortcut back to the campground. The park brochure shows the trail turning into the forest before a small creek (easily passable but not bridged), but it actually crosses the creek before turning in (at J Intersection).
The trail then follows the base of Alder Ridge through the dense forest. For a short section, it will share the gavel road that leads to Group Camp 2 before becoming singletrack again. At the very end the trail climbs a small amount above Group Camp 1 before ending at G intersection with the
Service Road Trail.
