Dogs Off-leash
Features
Fall Colors · Views · Wildflowers
This is a day-use only site; no overnight parking or camping. The trails are open year round; but hiking or riding during wet conditions is discouraged.
Need to Know
The trailhead has pit toilets but no water. The trail system is directional with portions open only to bikers and others open to both hikers and bikers. Stay off the biker-only trails and watch for bikers on the mixed use trails.
The best hiking and riding conditions are in the spring and fall or early in the day in the summer. Summers can be very hot and dry, and winter freeze-thaw can make the trail muddy and slippery.
Description
This is the primary multi-use trail from the trailhead to the saddle east of Tin Pan Peak. For the hiker, it's a good steady climb on well-graded switchbacks with nice views of the Rogue River valley to the west. By itself, it's a great out-and-back exercise hike. Or it can be combined with the
Darkside Trail for a trip to the summit of Tin Pan Peak or with the
Sasquatch Trail for a lollipop loop return to the trailhead.
Flora & Fauna
Watch out for poison oak, ticks, and rattlesnakes, particularly if you let your dog off-leash.
