Overview

This run visits some very old trees in the middle of the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area.

Need to Know

It's $5 cash-only at the trailhead.

Runner Notes

Roots and rocks are all along the trail.

Description

Start out at Cape Perpetua Day Use Area. Head down the Saint Perpetua Trail towards the Visitor Center, off to the south side of the parking lot. This first part is all downhill with many beautiful viewpoints.

About 1 mile in, cross the road and head down to the campground. At 1.2 miles, you'll briefly enter a campground. Head straight and turn right near the bathrooms to get back on the trail. Soon, you'll need to take a left to get on the Giant Spruce Trail #1365.

The Giant Spruce Trail is easy to follow, just keep to the right at all turns to avoid turning back into the campground.

At the end, you'll see a 550 year old spruce.

Now turn around, and get ready for a quad burner back up to your car.

Flora & Fauna

Expect big spruce trees and seaside meadows along this run.
