Description
The race begins at the Tank Springs Trailhead, quickly climbing 1000' feet to the ridgetop and follows the rocky spine of Cumberland Mountain until eventually dropping back down into the valley at Cove Lake State Park.
Along the way there is a wonderland of rock formations, massive sandstone cliffs, a stone arch, a series of cascading waterfalls, and numerous rocky lookouts with stunning views of the Powell River Valley and the Cumberland Mountain range.
The course is mostly singletrack wooded trails, boasting wildflowers, mountain laurel, rhododendron and blueberry bushes. For all it's stunning beauty though it packs a punch. The challenging course offers a multitude of challenging climbs, steep descents and technical rocky footing. Total elevation gain for the course is roughly 3500 feet.
