Description

Bear Creek Trail starts from the Slate Campground and takes you to Peter's Creek Loop. This is an out and back trail which makes it more challenging as you have to do this whole thing again in the reverse order. The climb out challenging because it is about a 1 mile uphill with slopes greater than 20% to gain about 700 feet in elevation. The destination is worth the journey, but you'll have to work for it and put in the miles in and out.

The trail is a mixture of singletrack and fire road size. A few sections can be muddy and, depending on the time of year, you have to be careful of the poison oak. Along the way, you can also find an old abandoned car and wonder how it got to the middle of the forest?

Flora & Fauna

Redwoods, banana slugs, poison oak.
