Runner Notes

Steep but good trail with a few sections with rope to pull through.

Description

Getting there can be difficult.

- Drive to the small town of General Eugenio Alejandrino Garay
- At the local police station (on the left side of the main road), turn left - there starts a small road.
- Follow this road. Quite soon it will turn into a dirt road. You'll come to a wooden gate that you can simply open.
- Drive through and follow the road for 3-4 kilometers, until you reach the parking lot.

The trail is well-established and easier to navigate than the drive in. You start out through thick forest relatively slowly before you make it to a ravine. From there the trail heads up precipitously, over rock and mud with an occasional fixed rope to assist your ascent. After 1.5 miles the trail flattens out for the next 0.5 miles and finally comes into an open grassy area.

Enjoy the viewpoints from the highest point in Paraguay and then head back down.
