Need to Know
Visiting Saba feels like stepping into another time. The small villages with green shutters and red roofs, excellent scuba diving, world's smallest air strip, and European restaurants and cafes offer something for everyone.
Once you come down from the mountain, thirsty and hot, be sure to stop in Windwardside for refreshments.
Runner Notes
Keep an eye out for slippery surfaces!
Description
This particular length of trail is the shortest option to reach Saba's volcanic peak: Mt. Scenery. There are medium and longer options, the longest being starting at the bottom of the ancient staircase "The Ladder".
Beginning in the quaint town of Windwardside, find the signpost indicating the Mt. Scenery Trail and simply follow the staircase upward! Depending on the weather and cloud cover, you'll find incredible views of the sea, the island, and Windwardside itself.
The staircase can be slippery or overgrown in areas. But these areas are usually protected with a handrail. There is a small scramble near the top—not daunting at all—with a thick rope to help pass over the rocks.
Flora & Fauna
Keep an eye out for the Red Billed Tropical Bird, which is featured on Saba's crest.
