Need to Know
Restrooms only near trailhead - no development other than a bridge along the trail.
Description
Long trail that can be cut shorter (± 5 miles each way) at primitive campsite #1. There is a second primitive campsite at the northern edge of the trail. This trail can be mountain-biked, but it's narrow and rocky - watch your derailleur! Great area for a weekend backpack trip. No fees to camp in primitive area.
The trail is marked with mile-markers (not accurate in their mileage) and blue circles/blazes on the trees. There is an interval that requires running along the highway - watch for traffic and walk on the small side area of the bridge! The swinging bridge is a great highlight of the trail about 3 miles from the trailhead, crossing over a small piece of the lake. The terrain past the bridge is more rugged on the eastern trail than the western part of the loop.
Note: If you park anywhere in the park, even if you aren't camping, you must get your car in the system either online or by using the kiosk out front of the welcome center. Other wise they fine you $10 and charge you $10/day.
