Overview
The track starts along an easy fire trail for 5 or so kilometers before reaching Uloola Falls, a great spot for a picnic. From there, it's a single trail, offering views to the city in the distance and descending into the beautiful Karloo Pools, a magical, shaded swimming hole that is popular in summer. Only the fittest will be able to run all the way out towards Heathcote -- there are 1.5 kilometers of relatively steep climbing.
Absolutely stunning at sunrise; the place erupts with birdsong. Be prepared to saturate your feet if it has rained recently.
Need to Know
There is a simple toilet at Uloola Falls Campground.
Runner Notes
Some of sloped sections of sandstone are deceptively slippery even when it's dry, because sand and dust have blown onto the rocks.
Description
The track begins at the rear of Waterfall train station carpark, and is marked to Uloola Falls/Campground.
There is only one fork in the trail, at Uloola Campground, at which point the way to Heathcote (via Karloo Pools) is posted starting by the waterfall.
The path emerges behind some houses, and emerges 100 meters from Heathcote train station.
It's a lovely area. You can create longer runs by peeling off at Uloola Falls towards Willow Tree Picnic Area and Audley.
