Overview
This is an amazing run with a big bang for the buck. A great way to see amazing views of the Napali Coast with minimal effort. The trail is never difficult to follow but does have uneven footing and requires a major stream crossing.
Description
The trail starts off with a fairly steep climb on rocks which can be slippery when wet. The first view point is back to Kee Beach at 0.25 miles. Views of the Napali coast start at 0.5 miles. The trail levels off a bit with small ups and downs through thick vegetation and over small streams. There are lots of wild orchids along the way, its like being in another world.
The final descent to the beach starts about 1.5 miles. Before reaching the beach you must cross the fast moving Hanakapi'ai Stream. You may be able to bolder hop, but most likely will need to run through the stream which is typically calf deep and deeper in the rain. This stream can be very dangerous to cross when there are heavy rains—do not risk crossing if stream is raging; people have perished and many rescues have occurred here.
Once crossing the steam you'll have reached Hanakapi'ai Beach.
