Lake
Description
From the Adair Village parking area off US Highway 99, this doubletrack gravel/dirt road climbs steadily westward through the oak forests of Oregon State University's McDonald Research Forest. Like other forest roads in the McDonald, this road is closed to public vehicular traffic, so it effectively serves as a wide running and biking trail.
At around 1.25 miles, the trail encounters a neat switchback hugging the slopes rising from a seasonal stream. After the switchback, the trail bends to the east before coming upon Cronemiller Lake near mile 1.5, a scenic spot with picnic tables for a break. Shortly after the lake, the road connects with
Forest Road 500, which can be used to continue on to Lewisburg Saddle and Vineyard Mountain to the southwest, or the Peavy Arboretum to the southeast.
