Dogs Leashed
Features
Lake
Park fees may apply.
Overview
A loop that runners will repeat 5 times if participating in the Bear Chase 100K. At 12.6 miles by this estimate, this loop takes runners around Bear Creek Lake Park, passing the lake itself as well as golf courses and Fox Hollow.
Need to Know
Park fees will apply if parking at the lake, which I think is $7-10 for a day pass; unsure if the race includes those fees.
Runner Notes
The trail is not very technical, mild, with some "v" shapes past Mt. Carbon. The river crossings are generally around calf-high, depending on how high the river is and time of the year. The trail is very exposed for most of the course, so plan accordingly with water, sunscreen, and other items that might be needed.
Description
This is the first lap of 5 as part of the Bear Chase 100K trail race in Lakewood, Colorado. It has three river crossings, 3-4 mild hills (less than 125-foot climb), 95% of the trail being singletrack. Very exposed for about 85% of the trail.
The map may be off by 0.3 miles or so -- more as a rough guide to keep people on course and understanding the terrain for training purposes. This is not the actual course due to mapping issues, so as a disclaimer, this is a rough guide of the course for the lap of the 100K race.
I created this for my benefit and decided to share for others as well.
Flora & Fauna
