Description
This is a nice 10-mile combination of carriageways going over most of the features of the Mohonk Preserve. The footing is quite non-technical, which allows for checking out the nice views at several points towards the Catskills and the Minnewaska State Park.
The run is practically 100% under a nice tree canopy which is greatly appreciated in the summer. There's no road traffic to take into account except at two crossings with very little activity since they are inside the preserve.
The route starts at the Spring Farm trailhead (already a grand view) and follows
Cedar Drive towards the center of the Mohonk Preserve. It then hits several other carriage roads with more viewpoints while following ledges (with wooden fences) and meanders back to the trailhead. There's about 1,000 feet of elevation accumulated, most of them in the first mile or so.
