Eagle Rock has some of the best vistas in the Great North Mountain range. Follow the blue blazes from the roadside parking along US-48/55 along the Tuscarora Trail to reach Eagle Rock.

Only park on the east-bound side of 48/55, and do not block the forest road gate.

This is a moderate out-and-back run along the Tuscarora Trail that leads to wonderful views at Eagle Rock.

Follow the blue blazes north from the roadside parking as you run the ridgeline of Great North Mountain. You'll come to a couple of forks, but stay with the blue blaze, and you'll reach your destination with a stone bench marking the main vista.

Most of the run is at a relatively level elevation until a final climb up to Eagle Rock. Here you'll enjoy panoramic views before heading back down the way you came.

Bear, snakes and other dangerous animals live in the national forest. Be prepared and know how to avoid contact, just in case.
