02/20/20 ODNR has done a great job clearing trees or routing around windfalls. A slight grade accessing trail in one direction, one tree still down in the other. A few narrow paths, but otherwise the trail stays flat for the most part. Pretty well blazed. Stays in the woods, so no real vistas. Close to road on some sections. Would rate it as easy to intermediate.

Need to Know

No fees to park and run. Campground store near trailhead.

Runner Notes

Would be a serious challenge for trail running with poor footing and large obstacles.

Description

The trailhead is in a parking area in Tar Hollow State Park campground. It winds around a hill along the west side of the hollow, providing an easy peaceful run in places but generally traversing the hillside with significant side-to-side grade in many sections. The last half mile is littered with large trees down across the trail, providing a significant test to traverse.

Flora & Fauna

Wooded throughout.
