Description
The trails starts north of the parking area for
East Ridge Trail. Enter the gate labeled D2 and follow the dirt road south. Most of the trail is very exposed but also rewarding you with plenty of views across Del Valle Regional Park.
After a quarter mile, a dirt spur to the left leads to the northern park boundary, stay right on Cedar
Creek Trail which descends steadily towards Cedar Creek. Another dirt road branches off to the right at 0.75 miles, but it only leads to a locked gate at Del Valle Road. Cedar
Creek Trail keeps descending further.
You reach an old farm building at 1.25 miles. Stay towards the right and cross the cattle gate. Yet another dirt road branches off to the right at 1.75 miles, but it also leads to a locked gate. Continue straight through the cattle gate and reach the junction with
Cedar Camp Trail at 2 miles. Turn left here and immediately turn right to stay on the trail. The next mile is slightly uphill again.
Oak Grove Trail joins from the right at 2.5 miles,
Black Sage Trail is to the left at 2.75 miles. As you reach the hill top, you get a good view of Lake Del Valle and the Arroyo Valle Canyon. The trail ends at another cattle guard with the park residence and service yard to the right.
