Overview
Short and sweet, this trail takes you to a hidden gem. Most people blast past this on the way to Grafton Notch State Park but it's worth the quick stop, especially in the spring when the water is high.
Description
Step Falls is a series of cascades along Wright Brook that in all form a 250-foot drop. During the spring run-off, the small brooks rages down these falls, but in the summer months the shrinking stream makes for a wonderful swimming spot on a hot day.
From the parking area, head up the trail with winds long the brook. There are numerous shallow pools along the way where you can wade or the little ones can dip. The largest pool is quite picturesque with a series of horsetail falls emptying directly into the granite lined pool.
Please stay on the trail as the surrounding area is private property.
