Description

This trail is not for the casual runner as it gains 2,000 feet of elevation in little over 2 miles. Some sections are very steep. But you get rewarded with great views of the coast.

There is room for a few cars right next to Highway 1. The trail gently starts to climb the first ridge into Limekiln State Park. Views of the coastal bluffs are abundant. You parallel West Fork Limekiln Creek for the remainder of the first mile and then cross the creek with careful boulder and log hopping. The trail picks up elevation gain again eventually moving out of the trees and offering you a spectacular view. The last half mile is the hardest section with a very steep ascent on the grassy ridge. The trail reaches Stone Ridge Trail #4E13 after 2.3 miles.
