This trail is difficult to access from the southern terminus.
Need to Know
Some portions of this trail coincide with a snowmobile trail.
Description
This trail follows orange duct tape or the "S" blazes. It starts from the map kiosk off the
Crosstown Trail and heads southward. Head towards the sign for Friar Tuck Trail and Sherwood turns immediately to the right.
Since the orange tape also follows a straightaway, this area can be difficult to remain on the proper trail. Stick to following the "S" blazes to stay on the proper trail. It crosses back and forth over the straightaway a few times, then comes out to a stone wall. It turns left to follow the wall, and eventually arrives at a junction. Here, at the junction, the
Valley Trail leaves right and Sherwood Forest Trail continues straight.
It loops around and comes to the southern junction with Friar Tuck Trail. It turns right and runs through Wetland Gap. Please use caution on the bridge as it's uneven and broken (in places). It travels southward to some powerlines and follows them left. Here, the actual trail can be difficult to navigate. Rather than follow the straightaway of the snowmobile tread, the trail weaves back and forth following pink ground flags.
It re-enters the woods and follows an old road, just below the airport. While the maps differ on the actual end of this trail, it appears to end where
Little John Trail travels left to right.
