Starts inside the Calico Ghost Town Park.
Overview
This loop includes some amazing views, some road running to pick up the speed, and some amazing downhill canyon running.
Need to Know
The Ghost Town has a fee to enter and has a ton of amenities.
Description
The loop starts at the Calico Ghost town and heads south onto an early road section along Ghost Town Road and Yermo Cutoff, then takes a slight right onto some sandy wash. This is tougher running than you might think.
It follows Ft Irwin Road until it makes a right back east after the mountain range. Then you turn left following the west side of the
Calico Peak trail. You take a right at the
Power Line Trail and follow that down to
Mule Canyon Road and get the chance for some downhill canyon running.
Here, you'll find some of the most fun rock running I've done in a race! I was able to blast by a few runners who were walking due to the rocks.
