Overview
The high points of this trail are the views of Hank's pond from the West Trail, the look out at the Fire Tower and numerous small water crossings.
Need to Know
This trail is on the Pequannock Watershed and requires a permit. The permit cost $14 for January to December or any part until December.
Description
Starting at the Parking Area P1 located on Clinton and Van Orden Road proceed on the white trail until it meets with
Hank's West Trail (blazed blue /blue and white). This section of the trail is pretty flat and easy to navigate offering nice views of the Hank's Pond.
At approximately 2.5 miles veer north on the Highland Trail (blazed Diamond Teal) and after climbing a for a bit you'll be on the Fire Tower. Continue on the Highlands Trail until the
Fire Tower West Trail. Proceed west to
Stephens Road.
After Shephens Road, look for the
Terrace Pond Red Trail (blazed red) and take it West until North
Spring North Trail (blazed Blue).
Spring North Trail will loop around back to
Stephens Road. This east section of this trail features wild rhododendron groves and hemlock stands.
At
Stephens Road take
Hank's East Trail (white blaze) back to the parking area.
